Exploring the Syncretic Religious Roots of Dia de Los Muertos
Limited Capacity seats available

Join us to explore the roots of Dia de Los Muertos, one of the most popular and celebrated Mexican American cultural traditions that demonstrates Mexica/Aztec and Roman Catholic influences syncretized as a result of the modern religio-cultural diversity, diffusion, collision, conversion, and resistance within Nueva España. In this interactive session with the help of Story Map, we will survey the geographies, histories, and religio-cultures of the traditions that come together in Dia de Los Muertos, which has gone global in popular culture. In diversifying classrooms, the lived religions of many peoples have become increasingly important for 21st century civics and global citizenry.
